The word "liberal" will no longer provoke the fight mechanism or suffer your disdain, rather it will bring to mind a succession of enlightened thinkers, worthy of monuments and statues, which includes our country's framers.
The 2nd amendment is not an absolute right. It is tempered by the delegation of militia type activities to local, state and federal jurisdictions. Regulating well means common sense gun laws which make our modern militias' jobs easier, from decreasing gun deaths to tracking weapons and gun owners. That is the militia which is free from any abridgement, absolutely. You now find that viewpoint reasonable while calling the Supreme Court "activist judges."
The freedom of religion to many is freedom from religion. Any synchronicity between the body of law with religious teachings is more historical curiosity than indication of some legislative precedence. Nothing in the 1st amendment carves out a special respect for religiously held beliefs when it comes to statute and citizenship. You will comprehend now that religion suffers from commingling with politics as much as our common law does with religion.
It's never going to trickle down.
One political party has forsaken public service so intensely that it approaches violating the oath of office. That is The Republican Party. You're not fooled: the party of Lincoln cashed out in the late 60's. It reconstituted itself as a coalition of one-time Dixiecrats, anti-secularists, borderline anarchists, corporatists, the ultra-wealthy, and those whose force of habit pulls the "R" lever for them. It is the hand maiden to the oligarchs and worthy of your revulsion.
Reagan's 1st term saw cadres of social engineers from the so-called think tank institutes and foundations to wildly successful direct marketers to scripted daily talking points keeping Republicans "on message" to masterful framing. It turns out that was only a foot in the door. Now it's imperative that you stay away from the story line shallows and seek out the depths of original reporting and learned commentary. You will take that walk, tune that guitar, cook a meal from scratch, while staying the hell away from FoxNews and its marginally less egregious ilk.
From now on, you will no longer advocate the politics of or vote in support of policies which run counter to your self-interest no matter the intensity of the seduction away from reasonable discourse toward preemptive labeling, ad-hominem attacks, straw man arguments and tautologies with a side of rinse and repeat. Liberal bashing, if still sport, must surely be relegated to somewhere after cheese rolling.
As I count down from three, you will awaken and remember nothing of any of this, while able to produce recollections of people clucking like chickens, crawling like infants, speaking mumbo-jumbo believing it was Spanish and so on, and you'll break into loud applause for a fantastic show; in three, two, one and you are now wide awake.
